On February 9, The Community Food Bank was honored to be served 10 boxes of hot, delicious pizzas from the following two local pizzerias as part of the Pizza Across America event: Pizza Buzz and Big O’s To Go Pizzas (see the maps below for directions).
Pizza Across America is an event put on by the organization, Slice Out Hunger. According to their website, “Slice Out Hunger has raised nearly $250,000 to fund hunger relief efforts around the US since launching in 2009. The original idea was simple: use food donated by independent pizzerias to raise money for local food banks and pantries with proven track records.” Although their work began locally in New York City, Pizza Across America is a new national campaign that aims to provide free pizzas to area food banks. Here in Texas, there were 9 food banks fortunate enough to receive the pizza donations, and the Community Food Bank was blessed further by being served by TWO pizza restaurants!
